for Professionals

The ageing population is putting more and more pressure on health
and community services. This means in the years come there will be an increasing
need for people to empower and help themselves.

An Ageing Population

We are all aware of the "Ageing Tsunami" that will wash over us in the next few decades. Coupled with the Governments new emphasis on keeping people in their own homes as long as possible the pressure on Community Care services and other existing initiatives is set to rise in coming years.

The strict eligibility criteria for Government Home and Community Care Services make this and services like it largely reactive rather than pro-active in keeping people in their homes, particularly in the Home Modification sector.

In fact the governments own statistics show that they can only help a very small percentage of our elderly and those with a disability.

Proactive not Reactive.

Many elderly people and their families are not eligible for government assistance to stay in their own homes and communities and even though these people may be able to proactively plan and take action themselves there is often very little information or assistance to show them how to go about this.

We are dedicated to working with all allied professionals and welcome collaboration with all sectors of the health and construction industry.

Our Aim

Our aim is to help these proactive elderly Australians to gather the information they require quickly and easily and to allow them to consider renovating their own homes and weigh up the pro and cons of Modifying versus Moving before they make any major life changing decisions.

Our Audit Services

We visit the home and conduct an audit and then provide the customer with a report giving them all the information and ideas so that they may decide what changes they can make and whether or not the home may be modified to suit their future needs.

The changes can then be incorporated into planned renovations and even necessary repairs and maintenance over time. If urgent we can assist by pointing the customer in the right direction to have the work completed efficiently and cost effectively by trustworthy contractors.

Our Range of Services

The range of individual audits we provide include:

These audits can be mixed and matched in any combination to create a package that suits their needs.

Recommendations Audit and Report

Our Recommendations Audit is a combination of all four of the individual audits providing a comprehensive overview of the suitability of the home and the changes that can be made to enhance that suitability.

Not every item in the report may be important to the particular customer but the beauty of this report is that it gives them the information that they can use to plan ahead and be in control of their decisions of where to live now and in the future.

This report is designed purely to inform the decision making process of whether or not the home could be made suitable for the needs of an ageing person or a person with a disability and to provide information as to the extent of the changes needed to achieve this.

The Next Step - Building Solutions

Once the customer has had a Recommendations Audit done and reviewed their options and decided that if they plan ahead and make some changes to their home they will be able to stay living there longer the next question is generally;

"Where to from here, what now?"

Decision Easy can show them how to go about making their chosen renovations by providing them with a Building Solutions Report which clearly sets out the requirements in further detail.

This report expands on the issues raised in the Recommendations Report and provides diagrams and dimensions as to how to translate the requirements into their home design or renovation. Depending on the level of changes they decide to make this report can be used as a brief or specification, which you can then give to their architect, builder, building designer or tradesperson.

Referrals

Decision Easy is establishing a network of reliable and trustworthy Architects, Designers, Builders and Tradespeople across the country and can assist with referring customers to them when they need to complete changes to their homes from the minor through to major renovations.

Our network of contacts are familiar with Ageing in Place and Universal Design principles and can assist with making the home more suitable for specific needs.

Support and Advice

Decision Easy can offer ongoing support and advice during the renovation of the home and also provide specific milestone inspections after the modification is complete. This ensures that any modifications have been correctly carried out.

If the decision is to move

If our customers have decided to move we can complete a pre-purchase type audit and assess the home for Ageing in Place or Universal Design principles before they commit themselves to the move.

If they decide to build a new home from scratch an audit of the plans during the design phase highlights fundamental principles that should be included in the design to ensure that the home will be suitable for many years to come and will not have to be retro-fitted down the track.
